I’d originally planned to get a senior cat but when I went to the shelter this young adolescent was the one who claimed me. She’s very energetic, is an avid hunter, and likes to be up high to surveil her surroundings.
During construction I thought of a few platforms and toys to attach to the greenhouse when I got a cat. This inexpensive set lets me try various options to see what she likes before investing the time, energy, and money for custom greenhouse attachments.
The biggest challenge was finding wall space to attach the toys.
There are only 2 walls with enough space. The first idea was to mount them over the monitor on the living room’s west wall. But there were two problems with that – 1) the steps to reach the top level would require removing one of the chairs, and 2) guests would probably be uncomfortable with these things and/or the cat over their head.

On the living room east wall, however, removing the stand lamp made room to attach the steps and scratching posts, and lowering the clock made room for the bridge and cave.
It’s amazing how quickly this has changed her behavior. I work from home sitting on the sofa all day. She used to be bored and disruptive. Now she’s happy to play or just lay in the cave. When I’m up and about, she sits on the lowest step where she’s almost eye level and charges a petting toll to pass back to the sofa. What seemed like an extravagance before purchasing them is now something I’m almost as happy about as she is.
